Japanese police have put 2 Filipino men on the international wanted list on suspicion of murdering a female university student 13 years ago. Another Filipino suspect was arrested on Saturday.

The body of 21-year old Misato Harada was found near a river in a village north of Tokyo in January 2004.

Three days ago, police arrested 35-year-old factory worker Lampano Jerico Mori in connection with the murder of Harada.

They believe the other 2 men, who were then aged 18 and 19, were also involved. But the 2 left Japan in 2007 and have not returned. Police plan to seek the cooperation of Filipino authorities to find the suspects.

Harada was in her second year at Ibaraki University, studying agriculture. She belonged to the triathlon club.

On January 30, she attended a club meeting in Tokyo and returned to her apartment at around 9 PM. She was there with a friend.

At around midnight, she left a note saying she was going out, and went out alone.

At around 9 AM the next morning, her body was found at the mouth of a river, about 6 kilometers from her apartment. She had been strangled.

Police say her bicycle was discovered in a city some 8 kilometers from where her body was found, but that they have no other leads about her whereabouts that night.
