One of Japan’s unforgettable summer sights is the vivid panorama of the blue sky and thousands of sunflowers in the fields (Hokuto Kanko).

The Akeno area in Hokuto City (Yamanashi) has the longest sunlight period in Japan, and houses several majestic sunflowers fields.

Thousands of people visit the annual Sunflowers Festival that takes place on site between late July and late August with photo contest and sale of local produce.

Akeno Himawari Batake (Akeno Sunflower Field) is one of the places with the most beautiful sunflowers fields with 600,000 flowers, accompanied by the Japanese Alps in the background. There are also cosmos flowers along the circumference of the sunflowers fields.
