South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon was speaking at an international conference in Seoul on Thursday.

Lee said there is speculation that North Korea may continue its provocations by launching an ICBM on a normal trajectory. In July, the North launched 2 of these missiles and is believed to have used lofted trajectories.

South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon has warned that North Korea may test-launch an intercontinental ballistic missile on the country’s National Foundation Day on Saturday.

But Lee did not give any specific evidence to back up the allegations.

South Korea’s National Intelligence Service gave a warning at a parliamentary committee on Monday that the North may fire submarine-launched missiles, intermediate-range missiles, or ICBMs on a normal trajectory towards the northern Pacific.

The South Korean military is stepping up efforts to keep the North in check. It carried out exercises for a blockade in waters surrounding the Korean Peninsula that involved fighter jets as well as warships. It also conducted a drill to defend an island near the maritime demarcation line in the Yellow Sea.
