North Korea’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Tuesday after the UN Security Council held an emergency meeting the previous day.

The US hopes to submit a draft resolution on additional sanctions and put it to a vote next Monday.

The statement says the US is running amuck to defame North Korea, taking issue with its measures to bolster the self-defensive nuclear force.

It says Pyongyang will respond to the heinous sanctions and pressure of the US with its own mode of counteroffensive.
The statement also says North Korea is a full-fledged nuclear power in possession of ICBMs as well as atomic and hydrogen bombs, and Washington should not forget even for a moment about the presence of the country.

North Korea announced on Sunday that it had successfully tested a hydrogen bomb that can be mounted on an intercontinental ballistic missile.

The North will celebrate its foundation day on Saturday. It conducted a nuclear test on the anniversary last year.
