Girl stabbed on train platform at station in Japan

An 18-year-old schoolgirl was stabbed by a man as she was waiting for a train on a crowded platform at JR Sendai Station in Miyagi Prefecture on Thursday morning. According to police, the girl was stabbed in the back at around 7:30 a.m., Sankei Shimbun reported. She told police she didn’t feel anything at first until another commuter pointed out to her that she was bleeding from the back. She was taken to hospital but her wound is not life-threatening, police said. Surveillance camera footage showed a man walk up beside the girl, suddenly pull out a needle-like object and stab her in the back before fleeing. The girl told police the man said nothing and that she had never seen him before.
